Mary, the granddaughter of the founder of the industrious well-known Staxi Bakery, takes great pride in carrying-on the family tradition, which goes back over 70 years. From one small bakery, through hard work and devotion, Mary, together with her two sons, Fotis and Dino, runs three outlets of Staxi Bakery; one in the charming town of Vrahati and two in the heart of Corinth. The Vrahati branch, concentrating on bread making, is run by Dino, while his brother, Fotis, runs the Corinth branches. Mary, confident that her sons are doing an excellent job, helps out wherever she is needed.
Nikos, Master Pastry Chef at Staxi Bakery, was born and grew up in the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Cameroon, Central Africa. From a young age Nikos frequented the numerous cafes, patisseries and bakeries of the vast Greek community in Cameroon.
Being a loveable small boy, the proprietors of these interesting establishments would call out to Niko as he passed by, calling him in to sample the sweet delights, and here, Nikos watched, learnt and discovered his passion; to bake!
His passion has never left him, and today Nikos is here, at Staxi, amongst his pots and pans, nearly invisible in a cloud of flour, trying out, tasting, testing, and making sure that only the best traditional Greek sweets, cakes and pastries leave his kitchen.
Staxi bakeries provide only the freshest of crusty, traditional Greek bread, freshly baked by hand each day. Their deliciously mouth-watering cakes and pastries are made from only the purest of ingredients, using no additives or preservatives.
On entering one of the Staxi establishments, the first thing to hit you is the delectable aroma of baking bread; the second, is the vision of sheer indulgence, shelf upon shelf of sweet delights. The choices are endless: sticky, traditional baklava, oozing fruit and nuts, galactobouriko (a sweet, milky filling, encased in crisp filo pastry), and kataifi (a nutty center, wrapped in thin shreds of pastry, which resemble shredded wheat), are just an example of what can be found in this Aladdin’s Cave of confectionary, all lovingly created by Nikos, Master Pastry Chef at Staxi.
Be prepared when visiting Staxi to come out with more than you intended; everything is simply irresistible.
